Identify and Define target group

Conduct analysis on potential clients or customers for JVL entertainment. Analysis shows increase in consumer demand for home studio equipment.

User Specific Research

Survey Students (recruited from student groups in social media), Musicians (recruited from Twitter, Instagram) to find common metrics between them.

  • Personal data (age, job, education, background) and what they value (brands, price, shipping time, quality, product perception).
  • Create User personas for the target groups to better understand them.
  • Work with Project Manager and on-board 2 designers.
  • Have Design team perform Card Sorting with users identified in surveys.
  • Utilize prior data from JVL and work with marketing/sales to identify topics.
  • Find common group names, themes and frequently paired subjects.

Architecture and Design Process

Define a design system to create sustainable UI improvements.

Early Concepts

Create concept sketches for home and product pages. Refine ideas based on feedback sessions with design team and stakeholders.

Wireframes

Create Wireframes with feedback from design team. Design Lo-fi prototype then collect feedback from stakeholders. Work with design team to create a working prototype.

First Prototype

Usability Testing

Use working prototype to perform moderated interviews remotely with 8 users (30 minute limit).

Scenarios are based on testing users for finding a specific product based on user personas defined in earlier stages. Each user is tested for time taken per task, success rate, rate of error and bounce rate. They were also asked to "think out loud" and provide additional feedback after each session.

Final Prototype

Use Findings from User Interviews and feedback from the team to produce final prototype.

Product Finder tool designed to help users search using either product specifics (price, brand, type, reviews) or recommends products using user information (students, DJs, home studio).

Work with project manager to create and modify user stories/tasks in JIRA with visual assets and information for Dev team.

Ensure QA runs tests to evaluate if the application meets the standards set by the design team and stakeholders.

Future Development and Maintenance

Processes utilized during each stage were documented in company Wiki for current and future development. Data obtained from tests can also be analyzed again based on new organizational needs.

Standalone Mobile application in development based on feedback from usability testing on E-commerce site and User Surveys after launch. Will allow users to personalize their purchase experience and order home studio set-ups including: furniture, technical equipment and installation.

Research conducted for e-commerce application showed viability for this product and allowed stakeholders to approve it.

Existing components and libraries will allow design and dev teams to efficiently create the product.
